Park Creek Reservoir to Pain-in-the-Ass Pass

80 miles and 4000 feet of elevation. Lots of cut-off options on this route. The full route includes Park Creek Rez and peaks at the top of Pain-in-the-Ass Pass.

Pain-in-the-Ass Pass is your gateway to incredible, remote adventure in our region. Definitely put this area on your summer to-explore list. This route is also a part of the FoCo Fondo Training Series.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 80 miles

  • Paved: 50%

  • Climbing: 4000 feet

Notes: If you are comfy with it, you can do a short jaunt on 287 and come back on Owl Canyon. This shortens the route mileage-wise and is faster (more pavement).

Refills: The Forks in Livermore.

Tires: Something like a WTB Vulpine in a 36 would be super fun. A lot of the gravel is fast rolling and is best paired with a fast gravel tire that can get you through the technical and loose sections.
