Poudre Stove Prairie

Poudre Canyon has a gentle elevation gain and incredible landscape. Shortly after passing the iconic Mishawaka concert venue, you’ll head up a pretty tough 5-mile climb, Stove Prairie. You’ll have two options at this point: either head left up Ford Hill to descend down into Rist Canyon OR, as in this route, continue straight for big elevation loss with a few kickers to Masonville. From Masonville, you’ll have a few shorter climbs to get back to town.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 63 miles

  • Climbing: 4100 feet

  • Category: Solid

Notes: The Poudre is a popular recreation area in the summer (i.e. campers, RVs) and there is not always a shoulder on the Poudre but the speed limit is 30-35 mph for most of it. Consider your timing if you are worried about inattentive drivers, or try the route in reverse!

Refills: Refill options include Ted’s Place, Mishawaka, Masonville Mercantile, or Horsetooth Mountain Park.

Tires: We like the WTB Exposure as a tubeless option.
