Pearl Beaver

This route is nearly entirely gravel and all in the mountains. You’ll head up Cherokee Park a ways before turning off on Pearl Beaver (County Road 169)…can’t make that shit up. It’s gorgeous but steep. Eventually you’ll intersect with Deadman Road. Stop for lunch at Potbelly’s or just scoot the extra couple miles up the road to Red Feather Trading Post. There are no services besides those near Red Feather, so plan accordingly. There are some streams so you could bring a filter. As with all mountain things, this route is especially important to check the weather and bring some layers in case of a mountain storm.

The Stats:

  • Distance: 67 miles

  • Paved: 3%

  • Climbing: 7400 feet

  • Notes: Most of the route is above 7000 feet, plan accordingly.

Refills: Potbelly’s Restaurant, Red Feather Lakes Trading Post. Access to some streams if you wants to pack a filter.

Tires: WTB Vulpine 45. Overall the course was pretty smooth but there is some chunk coupled with descents.
